Talabat vs Deliveroo vs Careem Food: The Honest UAE Food Delivery Comparison 2026

Talabat vs Deliveroo vs Careem Food: The Honest UAE Food Delivery Comparison 2026

Talabat vs Deliveroo vs Careem Food UAE 2026

Dubai’s food delivery market is worth over USD 720 million and growing at 10.2% per year. There are now five serious players: Talabat, Deliveroo, Careem Food, Noon Food, and Keeta, the new entrant backed by Chinese tech giant Meituan that launched in September 2025 with zero delivery fees.

We ordered the same burger, fries, and drink from the same restaurant branch on Talabat, Deliveroo, and Careem Food at the same time on a Tuesday evening in Dubai. Here is exactly what happened.

The Market Context First

Talabat holds around 45% of Dubai’s food delivery market with over 15,000 restaurant partners. Deliveroo controls roughly 25% with a deliberate premium positioning. Careem Food holds an estimated 5 to 10%, competing aggressively on price. Noon Food is growing. Keeta is too new to have solid market share data but is already causing the others to think.

They are not trying to win the same customer. Understanding this matters before comparing them.

What We Actually Paid

The food itself cost AED 52 on all three platforms from the same restaurant.

Talabat charged AED 10 delivery fee plus AED 5 service charge. Total: AED 67. With Talabat Plus at AED 19 per month, the delivery fee drops to zero on orders above AED 40, bringing the effective cost to AED 57.

Deliveroo charged AED 15 delivery fee plus AED 7 service charge. Total: AED 74. Deliveroo is consistently the most expensive of the three. They know this and do not pretend otherwise.

Careem Food charged AED 6 delivery fee and no service charge. Total: AED 58. They also had a AED 5 discount code running that evening, bringing it to AED 53.

Cheapest single order: Careem Food. Cheapest regular user: Talabat Plus. Deliveroo is the most expensive and positions on quality and speed, not price.

Delivery Time and Food Condition

Talabat estimated 30 to 35 minutes. Actual arrival: 38 minutes. Food was warm and packaging was intact.

Deliveroo estimated 25 to 30 minutes. Actual arrival: 27 minutes. Food was hot. This was the fastest and the best food condition of the three.

Careem Food estimated 35 to 45 minutes. Actual arrival: 42 minutes. Food arrived at room temperature. The extra time cost food quality in a way that was noticeable.

What Each Platform Is Actually Good At

Talabat: The Default for Good Reason

15,000 restaurant partners is not a marketing stat. It means if a restaurant delivers in your area, it is almost certainly on Talabat. The platform also runs Talabat Mart, dedicated dark stores that deliver groceries in under 20 minutes around the clock. Milk at midnight. Ice cream on a Tuesday. Talabat Mart is the answer.

Talabat Plus at AED 19 per month removes delivery fees on orders above AED 40. If you order delivery more than twice a week, the subscription pays for itself in the first week. It is the most financially rational food delivery subscription in the UAE.

Yes  Biggest restaurant selection by a significant margin

Yes  Talabat Plus pays for itself quickly for regular users

Yes  Talabat Mart for round-the-clock grocery delivery

No  Service charges add up on smaller orders without a subscription

No  App slows down noticeably during peak evening hours

Deliveroo: When You Actually Care About the Food Arriving Hot

Deliveroo is more expensive. They are not pretending otherwise. Their pitch is speed and quality. Premium restaurants, faster riders, better packaging standards. If you are ordering from somewhere you are paying AED 80 or more for the food, spending AED 15 on delivery that gets it to you hot in 27 minutes is a reasonable trade.

If you are ordering a AED 30 meal and paying AED 15 to deliver it, the economics do not work. Use Careem instead.

Yes  Fastest delivery in our testing, consistently

Yes  Food arrives in the best condition of the three platforms

Yes  Best choice for premium and fine dining restaurant orders

No  Most expensive delivery fees of the three

No  Smaller restaurant selection than Talabat

Careem Food: For Budget Days and Daily Deals

Careem competes on price and it does this honestly. Their Meals:ON feature offers full meals for AED 29 or less. This is genuinely useful for students, budget-conscious residents, and anyone who just needs a decent lunch without overthinking it.

The trade-off is delivery time and food condition. Careem’s rider network is smaller. During the evening rush, delivery times stretch past estimates. Our test showed that the extra time cost food quality in a real, noticeable way.

Yes  Cheapest platform per order, especially with Meals:ON deals

Yes  Integrates with Careem rides and Careem Pay wallet

No  Slowest delivery times of the three in our testing

No  Food condition suffers on longer deliveries

Keeta: The One to Watch

Keeta launched in Dubai in September 2025 with zero delivery fees. The company behind it, Meituan, is one of China’s largest tech companies with the financial capacity to sustain loss-leading market entry for years. The restaurant selection is still building but the app is clean and delivery times are competitive. If Keeta holds its zero-fee model as its network grows, it will take real market share from all three established players. Download it now and check back in six months.

Which Subscription Is Worth It

Talabat Plus at AED 19 per month is the best food delivery subscription value in the UAE if you order more than twice a week. The maths are simple: two deliveries saving AED 10 each covers the monthly cost. Above that frequency, everything is a saving.

Deliveroo Plus at AED 19 per month covers free delivery for users who regularly order from places where the AED 10 to 15 delivery fee is the norm. If you order from premium restaurants three times per week, it pays. If you order occasionally, it probably does not.

Careem does not have a food-specific subscription. If you already pay for Careem Plus for ride benefits, check whether it includes food delivery discounts in your plan.

The Bottom Line

For most UAE residents:  Talabat. Best selection, best subscription value, Talabat Mart for groceries. This is your default.

For premium restaurant orders:  Deliveroo. Pay the extra fee. Get the food hot.

For budget days:  Careem Food. AED 29 Meals:ON and discount codes when your wallet says so.

New entrant to watch:  Keeta. Zero delivery fees could change everything by end of 2026.

Keep all four apps on your phone. Use Talabat Plus if you order more than twice a week. Use Deliveroo when the food matters. Use Careem when the price matters. And keep an eye on Keeta.
