MoHRE and the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority shut down 77 social-media accounts during the first half of 2025 for promoting domestic-worker recruitment without the required licence. The earlier Robius version incorrectly framed that crackdown as a 2026 sweep. This update corrects the record.
What authorities actually shut down
MoHRE said the accounts were unofficial and not licensed to carry out domestic-worker recruitment. The ministry urged families and employers to deal only with approved recruitment offices and to verify providers before handing over money or personal documents.
The enforcement action was about unlicensed recruitment activity. It should not be read as proof that every account was running exactly the same visa scam.
The wider visa-fraud warning still stands
The UAE Government warns jobseekers that employers are responsible for recruitment expenses and that a visit or tourist visa does not give someone the right to work in the country.
That matters because fake recruitment schemes often combine a supposed job with a request for visa-processing fees, deposits or payments to an unofficial intermediary.
How to verify a UAE job from abroad
Do not rely on the recruiter’s social profile. Check that the employer legally exists, verify the job through official company channels, and use MoHRE or the relevant government services to confirm the employment process.
If a recruiter claims that paying money is necessary to secure the job or work visa, stop and verify independently before sending anything.
Domestic-worker recruitment needs an approved channel
MoHRE specifically directs families to use licensed domestic-worker recruitment offices. Its published guidance also provides a call centre for checking whether an entity advertising recruitment services is legitimate.
The bottom line
The correction matters: the 77-account shutdown was a 2025 enforcement action, not a new 2026 sweep.
The consumer lesson remains current. A social-media account, impressive branding or promise of a UAE visa does not replace a licensed recruitment channel and a verifiable employment process.
