THE ROBIUS VIEW

Worth considering

A potentially useful route to non-dilutive growth financing for innovative UAE businesses, but it is not free money or a grant. Applicants should evaluate the loan economics, lender requirements, repayment capacity and guarantee coverage before treating the programme as suitable funding.

DECISION BRIEF

What this record means

A concise reading of the structured evidence, written for practical decision-making.

01
Why it may be valuable

A potentially useful route to non-dilutive growth financing for innovative UAE businesses, but it is not free money or a grant. Applicants should evaluate the loan economics, lender requirements, repayment capacity and guarantee coverage before treating the programme as suitable funding.

02
Who should examine it

Innovative companies that are UAE-based or willing to establish in the UAE, operate in one of the seven National Innovation Strategy sectors, have moved beyond the idea stage, and can demonstrate strong market potential. The scheme is designed for businesses seeking growth financing, subject to eligibility and due diligence.

03
Terms and details to watch

MBRIF does not take equity under the Guarantee Scheme, but the support is repayable debt financing rather than a grant. Interest or profit, repayment schedules, lender conditions, security, covenants and other charges depend on the final loan and guarantee arrangements. Approval is not guaranteed. The financing amount, lender, pricing, repayment period, collateral, covenants and percentage of guarantee coverage are not universal and depend on due diligence and the final agreements. “No equity” does not mean no repayment, no cost or no credit risk.

Equity, fee, or repayment requirement

MBRIF does not take equity under the Guarantee Scheme, but the support is repayable debt financing rather than a grant. Interest or profit, repayment schedules, lender conditions, security, covenants and other charges depend on the final loan and guarantee arrangements.

Eligibility requirements

The applicant should be UAE-based or willing to establish in the UAE; operate in technology, education, water, transport, clean energy, health or space; have a novel technique, product, process or service beyond the ideation stage; and demonstrate strong market potential.
