Crypto mining is now legal in Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan has taken an important step in the crypto world by permitting crypto mining and trading. This is a section of Turkmenistan’s new “Law on Virtual Assets.” In November 2025, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov approved new laws that set clear rules for digital asset activities in the country.
The law is designed to make sure digital assets can be used safely. It aims to stop illegal actions and protect users’ rights. It seeks to support new technology and boost Turkmenistan’s digital economy.
Only licensed businesses can create, manage, and trade bitcoins. The Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Finance and Economy will manage these licensed businesses. They have to follow strict rules and will be checked regularly by the authorities.
The law focuses heavily on following the rules. It clearly bans any unlicensed activities in the bitcoin space, giving regulators the power to suspend or take away licenses if rules are violated. This makes sure that all actions follow the laws set by the government.
