The short answer

Updated September 2026: this article was originally published while the FIFA World Cup 2026 promotion was active. The tournament ended on 19 July 2026, and Talabat’s promotion terms required the TOD voucher to be activated before the end of the tournament. Readers should therefore not treat this page as a currently redeemable World Cup offer.

The original article also made the annual renewal warning too categorical. Talabat’s promotion terms describe a 12-month Long-Term Plan and say any subsequent renewal is charged at the standard Long-Term Plan price applicable at the time. They do not, however, explicitly say that the annual Long-Term Plan automatically renews. Talabat’s general Pro terms do contain automatic renewal language for the ordinary 30-day membership, while also noting that partnership and other membership types can have different renewal, cancellation and refund rules.

THE ROBIUS READ: The World Cup promotion is now historical. If you already redeemed the TOD pass, check your TOD account for the remaining entertainment-subscription period and its own terms. If you took a 12-month talabat Pro Long-Term Plan, open the Talabat app and check the exact renewal status, next charge, cancellation route and current price shown for your plan. Do not assume either automatic renewal or non-renewal from an old article.

What the World Cup Bundle Actually Was

Talabat’s official promotion was called talabat Pro × TOD FIFA World Cup 2026. It was available in selected Talabat markets including the UAE and was tied specifically to Talabat Pro’s 12-month Long-Term Plan.

Under the promotion terms, a customer could qualify by:

  • joining a 12-month Long-Term Plan during the campaign;
  • upgrading an eligible monthly Pro membership to the Long-Term Plan; or
  • renewing an existing eligible Long-Term Plan for another 12 months during the campaign.

Eligible users received one TOD pass per Talabat account. For a Family Plan, the promotion terms said the TOD pass went to the family-plan manager rather than separately to every member.

What the TOD Pass Included

Talabat’s terms described the TOD benefit as access to FIFA World Cup 2026 matches for the full tournament plus 12 months of entertainment content, subject to TOD’s own terms and activation process.

That is more precise than calling it simply “a free year of World Cup streaming.” The football tournament itself lasted only through July 2026; the additional entertainment access could extend beyond the tournament depending on when the pass was activated and the applicable TOD terms.

The Activation Deadline Has Passed

The promotion terms required the TOD voucher to be activated before the end of the FIFA World Cup 2026 tournament. An unactivated voucher was forfeited after that deadline.

Because the World Cup final took place on 19 July 2026, a reader arriving on this page in September 2026 should not expect to subscribe now and receive the old World Cup pass.

If Talabat or TOD launches a later promotion, that should be evaluated under the new campaign’s own terms rather than assumed to be a continuation of this offer.

The Promotion Was Limited, Not an Open-Ended Membership Benefit

Talabat’s terms said the World Cup campaign was available for a limited period and subject to limited allocation. Talabat also reserved the right to end the campaign before an advertised end date if the allocation was exhausted or under the other conditions in the promotion terms.

That matters because the TOD pass was a promotional benefit attached to a specific campaign, not a permanent feature of every annual talabat Pro subscription.

What the 12-Month Long-Term Plan Commitment Meant

The Talabat promotion required a 12-month upfront Long-Term Plan commitment. The price was the amount displayed to the customer at purchase and could vary by market and plan.

The old Robius article hard-coded monthly and Family Plan prices from secondary coverage and then built savings calculations around them. We are removing that table. The promotion terms themselves say the applicable Long-Term Plan price is shown at purchase, and Talabat can change plan pricing and conditions over time.

For anyone deciding whether a current Talabat membership is worth it, use the price shown in your own app today rather than an old World Cup-era figure.

The Annual Auto-Renewal Warning Was Too Strong

The original article repeatedly said the annual plan would renew automatically and that “the second year arrives whether you use it or not.” We could not support that wording from the World Cup promotion terms.

The campaign terms say that any subsequent renewal of the Long-Term Plan will be processed at the standard Long-Term Plan price applicable at the time of renewal. They do not explicitly state whether that renewal is automatic or requires an action by the subscriber.

Talabat’s general UAE Pro terms do say the standard membership renews automatically every 30 days unless cancelled. But those same terms recognise that partnership plans and other membership types may have their own cancellation, refund and renewal rules.

The safe advice for an existing Long-Term Plan subscriber is simple: open the Pro section in the app and check what your own account says about the next billing date, renewal status, price and cancellation deadline.

Cancellation After Receiving the TOD Pass Had an Important Restriction

The promotion terms said that once the TOD pass had been issued, cancelling the Talabat Pro Long-Term Plan did not entitle the customer to a partial or full refund of the Long-Term Plan price.

That is the cancellation term that mattered most during the promotion. The old article instead focused heavily on avoiding a hypothetical automatic second-year charge while underplaying the immediate no-refund condition attached to an issued TOD benefit.

Do Not Assume Cancelling Talabat Automatically Controls the TOD Subscription

The Talabat Long-Term Plan and the activated TOD pass were connected through the promotion, but they were still separate services subject to separate terms.

Robius should therefore not tell subscribers that cancelling Talabat necessarily “keeps the streaming” for a particular period or that cancelling one service automatically cancels the other. Existing users should check both the Talabat Pro membership screen and their TOD account to see the current status of each service.

The Old “It Pays for Itself After a Few Orders” Maths Was Not Evidence

The previous version said individual delivery fees typically ran from a few dirhams to around AED 15 and suggested the membership would pay for itself after several orders per month.

That calculation is too generic. Talabat Pro free-delivery eligibility depends on participating merchants, minimum order values and the terms displayed in the app. The amount a user saves also depends on the actual delivery fee that would otherwise have applied to each order.

A better calculation is to look at your own order history. Add the delivery fees you would have paid on orders that actually qualified for Pro benefits, then compare those savings with the membership price you paid. Do not count a discount or benefit you would not otherwise have used.

What Talabat Pro Currently Promises More Generally

Outside the expired World Cup promotion, Talabat continues to market Pro around free delivery on eligible food and grocery orders, participating merchants, Rewards benefits and other member offers.

The important word is eligible. Talabat’s current terms say participating merchants and minimum order requirements can change and are communicated through the service. A Pro membership therefore does not mean every order from every restaurant has zero delivery charge.

If You Joined for the World Cup, Check These Four Things Now

  • Your Talabat plan: confirm whether the 12-month Long-Term Plan is still active and what your app says about renewal.
  • Your next price: do not assume the original promotional or purchase price applies to a future renewal.
  • Your TOD access: if you redeemed the pass, check the expiry date of the remaining entertainment entitlement directly in TOD.
  • Your cancellation terms: check the plan-specific rules before the next billing event; the World Cup promotion itself did not entitle users to a refund after the TOD pass was issued.

The Bottom Line

The Talabat Pro × TOD offer was a real World Cup 2026 promotion, but it is no longer a live redemption opportunity in September 2026.

Eligible users took or renewed a 12-month Talabat Pro Long-Term Plan and received one TOD pass that covered the World Cup tournament plus 12 months of entertainment content. The TOD voucher had to be activated before the tournament ended, and cancelling the Long-Term Plan after the pass was issued did not produce a partial or full refund.

The previous Robius article was too confident about annual automatic renewal and too loose with membership-savings maths. Existing subscribers should now check the exact renewal, price, cancellation and TOD-expiry information in their own accounts. Future readers should judge any new Talabat bundle from its own current terms, not from this expired 2026 promotion.
