AED 115 a month buys access to e&’s new business AI laptop. The interesting part is not the laptop. It is where some of the AI work happens.
e& is selling Snapdragon X Series laptops with AI Talk by e&, an on-device application that can run selected large language models and supported tasks locally. The company’s current product page lists configurations from AED 115 to AED 134 a month before 5% VAT.
On-device AI can keep selected business workloads closer to the user, reducing cloud exposure and making some AI functions usable with limited connectivity.
UAE SMEs, government teams, regulated businesses, field workers, IT administrators and buyers evaluating local or edge AI.
Local inference can reduce latency, cloud dependence and unnecessary data movement for document work, analysis and other supported tasks
Some features still require internet, supported tasks and models vary by configuration, and on-device processing applies only to compatible use cases.
The useful evidence will be hands-on performance, model update policy, enterprise-management details and real deployments in regulated or remote environments.
Match the laptop to a specific workload and ask which data stays local before treating “on-device” as a blanket privacy promise.
Teams handling sensitive documents or working in low-connectivity environments benefit most when the required model and task are genuinely supported on-device.
e& markets the product to UAE business customers, with configurations and deployment terms depending on the selected commercial offer.
Watch supported model lists, offline task coverage, data-flow documentation, warranty and support terms, and whether pricing changes after launch.
That can reduce cloud dependence for sensitive work. It does not make every AI feature offline, and it does not turn the device into an automatic data-sovereignty guarantee. The fine print on e&’s own page is more useful than the slogan.
What e& Is Actually Selling
e& describes the AI Laptop by e& as a Windows 11 Pro business laptop with dedicated AI processing on Snapdragon X Series hardware. Its AI Talk by e& application supports selected tasks directly on the device rather than sending every prompt or file to a remote cloud service.
The current product page says supported functions can include AI chat, document summarization, analysis across multiple PDF files, spreadsheet analysis, Arabic and English interaction, translation, writing assistance and information extraction. The available model families may include Llama, Jais and Qwen, depending on the approved software configuration.
Robius has not hands-on tested the laptop. This article is independent desk research based on e&’s current product documentation and separate reporting on the launch.
The Price Starts at AED 115 a Month
e& currently lists the S1-14 Plus with 512GB storage from AED 115 a month, excluding 5% VAT. The S1-14 Elite with 512GB is listed from AED 124 a month, while the 1TB Elite starts from AED 134 a month.
The product page also says configurations, quantities, warranty, deployment, support and commercial options depend on the customer’s requirements and applicable offer. So those monthly figures are starting points, not a complete total-cost quote for a business fleet.
The same procurement logic runs through our Best AI Model business guide. The right question is not whether the device has the strongest AI label. It is whether the supported local model can complete the actual job at an acceptable cost and risk level.
Offline AI Is Real, but Not Universal
e& says supported AI tasks can run locally without constant cloud connectivity. That is meaningful for remote sites, travel, classrooms, field operations and internal work where an internet connection is unreliable or deliberately restricted.
But e&’s own “Important to Know” section adds the boundary. Some features require an internet connection, including software updates, online services and cloud-based applications. On-device processing is available only for supported use cases and compatible AI models.
That is the same architectural shift Robius saw when Meta put an agentic model on one GPU and when UAE agentic AI started moving from cloud to edge. Local AI is becoming practical for narrower workloads. It is not replacing the cloud for every task.
“Your Data Stays on the Device” Needs a Scope
e& markets the laptop around privacy and data sovereignty and says AI processing can stay local. For supported on-device tasks, that can reduce the amount of business information sent to a model provider’s cloud.
The phrase should still be scoped to the actual workflow. A Windows laptop can use cloud applications, online services, software updates, enterprise management tools and network-connected storage. e& also says customers must continue following their own security and data-handling requirements.
Our recent comparison of OpenAI and Anthropic enterprise data-retention architectures made the same point from the cloud side. Privacy follows the whole architecture. Moving inference onto the device changes one important boundary, not every boundary.
Local AI Moves More Responsibility to the Endpoint
Cloud dependence creates one set of risks: provider retention, remote processing, internet availability and third-party infrastructure. Local inference removes or reduces some of those dependencies for supported tasks.
It also makes endpoint management more important. Businesses need to know who can access the device, how files are encrypted, how models and AI Talk are updated, what happens when a laptop is lost, and which connected services can still move data off the machine.
That is not a criticism of the product. It is the normal trade-off when intelligence moves closer to the user. More local control is useful only when the organization can actually manage the local environment.
The Robius Layer
The most interesting thing about e&’s AI laptop is not that a telecom company now sells another device. It is that on-device AI has become concrete enough to package as a business service with deployment and support around it.
The strongest use case is not “replace ChatGPT without internet.” It is narrower: keep selected document, analysis and assistant workloads local when cloud dependence is unnecessary or undesirable.
The buyer test is therefore simple. Pick one real workflow. Ask which model runs it, whether every required step stays on-device, what data leaves the laptop, and what happens when the model needs an update. If the answers are clear, local AI becomes infrastructure rather than a privacy sticker.
