Reuters says AiMOGA has deployed 110 humanoid police robots across multiple Chinese cities. The described roles are traffic management, crowd guidance, and public-safety awareness campaigns. That is a long way from an autonomous officer making arrests or exercising police discretion.

Chery-linked material from earlier this year also described a 1,000-unit agreement and initial deliveries for its Intelligent Police Robot program. The company is presenting the deployment as evidence that its robotics business is moving from prototypes into scaled commercial use.

That claim still needs the normal company-reporting caveat. Deployment numbers tell us robots were delivered and placed into service. They do not tell us how many hours they operate, how autonomous they are, how often humans intervene, or whether the economics beat a conventional machine or human team.

Why the Middle East Appeared in the Pitch

Zhang told Reuters that AiMOGA identified traffic management as a promising application because human officers can face extreme weather, vehicle emissions, and accident risk. He said the need could be greater overseas, particularly in the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

That is one of the more credible arguments for physical AI in the Gulf. The value is not that a humanoid looks futuristic. It is that a machine may be able to take repeated exposure to heat, roadside pollution, monotonous standing, or hazardous environments without creating the same human welfare cost.

But the claim has to survive the UAE summer in practice. Batteries lose performance in heat. Sensors get dirty. cooling systems consume energy. Fine dust and humidity are not marketing-deck problems. They are maintenance problems.

No, This Does Not Mean Robot Police Are Coming to Dubai

Nothing in the Reuters report confirms a UAE police order, pilot, approval, or deployment. The company said the Middle East could be attractive and that it is expanding overseas with service and companion robots first.

That line matters because robotics headlines are unusually vulnerable to turning a general market ambition into a local announcement. Robius would not write that a product is coming to the UAE until a named UAE customer, regulator, or company confirms it.

The signal worth keeping is that the Gulf is now being discussed as a practical deployment market, not just a place to host robotics conferences.

The UAE Is Already Building the Robotics Layer

Abu Dhabi’s Technology Innovation Institute and NVIDIA launched a joint AI and Robotics lab in 2025 focused on next-generation robotics platforms and humanoid technologies. The UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology has also been pushing robotics and Industry 4.0 adoption across manufacturing.

Physical robots are a different technology stack, but the governance question is similar: what can the system do without human approval, and how do you prove what happened when something goes wrong?

The Business Case Has to Beat a Simpler Machine

A humanoid body is useful when the environment was built for humans: stairs, doors, tools, counters, vehicles, and narrow spaces. It is less compelling when a wheeled robot, fixed sensor, camera, kiosk, or conventional automation can do the same task more cheaply and reliably.

That is why the first question for a UAE operator should not be whether the robot can walk. It should be which human task is being removed, what that task costs today, what safety exposure is reduced, and what happens during downtime.

AiMOGA Is Also Building an IPO Story

Reuters reports that AiMOGA is preparing for a possible stock-market listing, though Zhang did not give a venue or timeline. The company says it has delivered more than 3,000 robots globally, including 2,000 overseas, operates in more than 60 countries and regions, and aims for 10,000 deliveries next year.

Those are company-reported growth figures, not an independent audit of end-user utilization. They still matter because they show where the commercial pressure is coming from. Robotics companies need scale to push component costs down, expand service networks, and fund the software work required to make hardware more autonomous.

The Middle East can be attractive in that strategy because it combines capital, infrastructure spending, harsh-environment use cases, and governments willing to pilot emerging technology.

The Robius Layer: Physical AI Needs a Job, Not a Costume

The humanoid-robot market has spent years rewarding machines for looking impressive. The next phase will reward them for being boring. Can the robot show up every day, survive the environment, complete the same task safely, and cost less than the alternative over its useful life?

For UAE buyers, climate is both the sales pitch and the test. A machine advertised as useful because people should not stand in 45-degree heat has to prove that it can operate reliably in that heat without turning maintenance into a bigger problem than the labour it replaces.

If AiMOGA announces a named UAE deployment, that is when the story becomes local. Until then, the important development is that robot makers increasingly think the Middle East is where the commercial test may happen.
