AvaTrade UAE review ADGM FSRA 2026
AvaTrade Was the First Broker to Get a Category 3A License From ADGM. Here Is What That Actually Means.
AvaTrade Middle East Ltd was the first broker ever issued a Category 3A license by the ADGM Financial Services Regulatory Authority. That happened on February 6, 2020. The license, FSPN 190018, is still active. The Abu Dhabi office, Cloud Suite 306-307 on the 11th floor of Al Sarab Tower, is still operating.
So we checked it properly. The verdict is genuinely positive, with one structural point worth knowing clearly.
| VERDICT: Legitimate. ADGM/FSRA-licensed with a real Abu Dhabi presence. The first broker to receive a Category 3A license from ADGM. Islamic accounts available by default. AvaTrade Middle East Ltd is licensed under ADGM FSRA reference 190018, Category 3A. This allows it to service both retail and professional clients. It is regulated globally by the Central Bank of Ireland, ASIC, FSCA in South Africa, BVIFSC in the British Virgin Islands, and now ADGM in the UAE. Islamic swap-free accounts are available on request, and are a genuine product rather than a compliance afterthought. |
What Category 3A Actually Means
ADGM issues licenses in different categories depending on what activities a firm is authorized to conduct. Category 3A is a full dealing license. It authorizes AvaTrade to deal as principal in investments, specifically on a matched principal basis, and to deal as agent, for both retail and professional clients. It carries a base capital requirement of 500,000 dollars, higher for firms with larger books of business.
This sits at the same level of authorization as eToro’s ADGM FSRA permission. Both are substantive UAE-based licenses. Both authorize holding client funds locally and providing trading services directly. Both fall under ADGM’s English common law framework, with ADGM’s own courts available for dispute resolution.
Being the first broker to receive this specific license from ADGM is not just a marketing point. It means AvaTrade helped shape the Category 3A framework through its own application process, working with ADGM directly before the process was fully standardized for the brokers that followed.
What AvaTrade Actually Offers
More than 1,250 tradeable products, including forex and CFDs on shares, indices, commodities, and crypto. MT4, MT5, and the proprietary AvaTradeGO mobile platform, plus AvaOptions for options trading. Pricing is commission-free, with costs built into spreads, typically starting around 0.9 pips on major currency pairs.
Islamic swap-free accounts are available on request, with no overnight swap charges, a genuinely useful option for UAE residents who need Shariah-compliant conditions. AvaSocial and DupliTrade add copy-trading functionality, an area where AvaTrade is consistently rated among the stronger options.
AvaAcademy and a full educational library round out the offering for traders still building skill, including weekly webinars, structured courses, and a demo account.
The Honest Limit Worth Knowing
AvaTrade does not offer AED-denominated accounts as a standard product. Funding typically runs in USD or EUR, with conversion from AED applied at deposit. That is a real friction point for UAE residents who want to avoid currency conversion costs on every transaction.
There is also no government-backed investor compensation scheme under the ADGM FSRA framework, the same limit that applies to eToro and IG Markets under their UAE licenses. Segregated client funds are protected by the segregation requirement itself, but there is no guarantee fund sitting above that.
