Updated September 2026: the original version of this article overstated parts of Skiply’s regulatory and product story. It described Skiply as a “regulated banking product,” said it was used across more than 400 institutions, implied RAKBANK itself held every payment without an intermediary, and presented several re-enrolment and direct-debit claims more broadly than the current first-party material supports.
RAKBANK’s own current pages describe Skiply more precisely as a mobile education payment service powered by RAKBANK. Skiply’s current site says more than 300 schools and thousands of parents use the platform. It supports school and education payments, activities, multiple payment methods, instalment options and recurring-payment tools where the relevant school or provider enables them.
| THE ROBIUS READ: Skiply is a real UAE education-payment platform powered by RAKBANK and currently used by more than 300 schools according to Skiply’s own site. The useful question for a parent is not whether the app deserves a vague “banking-grade” badge, but whether the child’s school is supported, which payment methods and instalment options apply, whether recurring payments are enabled by that institution, and what fees or card terms apply to the payment. |
What Skiply Actually Does
RAKBANK currently describes Skiply as a mobile payment service for education payments in the UAE. Parents can use the app to pay participating schools and other education providers, while schools can use the associated platform to collect and reconcile payments.
Skiply’s own current parent-facing site lists features including:
- education and school-fee payments;
- after-school activity discovery and payment;
- credit and debit card payments;
- Apple Pay and Google Pay;
- instalment and rewards offers where available;
- student-level payment and management functions; and
- school communications and related education-management features where the institution supports them.
The current Skiply site says more than 300 schools use the platform. That replaces the old Robius figure of more than 400 institutions, which we could not substantiate from the current first-party product pages.
Recurring Payments Exist, but Only Where the School or Provider Enables Them
Skiply’s current tutorial documents Smart Plans for recurring payments. The flow lets a parent select a recurring schedule, such as monthly or by term, and later manage and track recurring payments from the app.
The important qualifier is in Skiply’s own tutorial: the school or provider must be enabled for Direct Debit. That means Robius should not describe automated recurring collection as a universal Skiply feature available for every institution on the platform.
The Old “Entire Re-Enrolment Journey” Claim Was Too Broad
The earlier article said parents could universally submit re-enrolment forms, pay fees and receive seat confirmation entirely inside Skiply. Skiply’s merchant portal does contain enrolment-related reporting and its wider school platform includes digital forms and school-management features, but the exact workflow depends on what a particular school has implemented.
Parents should therefore check the menu offered by their child’s own institution rather than assume every Skiply school uses the same enrolment, consent, transport, activity and payment modules.
“Powered by RAKBANK” Is the Accurate Regulatory Description
The old Robius article called Skiply a “genuinely regulated banking product” and said it was not a third-party payment middleman holding funds between the parent and school.
RAKBANK’s current public description is narrower: Skiply is a mobile payment service powered by RAKBANK that provides secure education-payment transactions using bank cards. Skiply’s own site is also branded and copyrighted by RAKBANK.
That connection is meaningful. But it does not give Robius enough evidence to describe the exact custody, settlement or intermediary structure of every Skiply transaction without reviewing the applicable payment terms and acquiring arrangement. We are therefore removing the unsupported “no intermediary holds your money” claim.
You Do Not Need a RAKBANK Card Just to Use Skiply
RAKBANK says Skiply can process education payments using any bank card. Skiply’s current consumer site also advertises multiple payment options including credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
RAKBANK cardholders can, however, receive separate bank-specific promotions or instalment benefits. That is different from saying the app itself is limited to RAKBANK customers.
Current RAKBANK Instalment Offer Through 31 December 2026
RAKBANK currently advertises a 0% Easy Payment Plan for eligible education-fee payments made through Skiply with a RAKBANK credit card.
The current promotion says Skiply education payments can be converted into 3-, 6- or 12-month Easy Payment Plans with 0% processing fee, subject to the offer conditions, through 31 December 2026. RAKBANK says the transaction must be converted before the card statement date and within the promotion validity period.
This is a bank-card promotion, not a permanent promise attached to every Skiply payment. Parents should check the current RAKBANK terms before relying on it, particularly because instalment offers can change or exclude particular card types.
Skiply Also Has a Current Back-to-School Promotion
As of September 2026, Skiply is running a separate Back to School campaign from 20 August to 20 October 2026. Under the current terms, an eligible UAE resident aged 18 or older who has a valid Skiply account and completes a qualifying education payment of AED 10,000 or more can receive one entry into a promotional draw, provided the other campaign conditions are met.
That promotion has its own eligibility rules, exclusions and social-media requirement. It should not be confused with the basic functionality of the app or treated as a permanent benefit.
What Parents Should Check Before Paying
- School support: confirm the exact school or education provider appears in your account.
- Student record: verify the student and invoice details before payment.
- Payment method: check whether card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or another option is available for that transaction.
- Recurring plan: if using Smart Plans, confirm the schedule, amount and whether the institution has enabled Direct Debit.
- Instalments: distinguish a RAKBANK credit-card EPP from a payment schedule created by the school or provider.
- Fees: check card, instalment and any provider-specific charges before confirming.
- Refunds or changes: understand how the school and Skiply handle reversals, withdrawals, changed activities or disputed payments.
- Receipt: retain the in-app or email confirmation for significant school-fee payments.
The Bottom Line
Skiply solves a real UAE pain point: paying and managing education costs through one digital platform instead of relying only on cheques, transfers or separate school payment processes.
The current evidence supports describing it as a RAKBANK-powered education payment service used by more than 300 schools, with activities, multiple payment methods, instalment offers and recurring Smart Plans where the institution enables them.
What Robius should not do is convert that into unsupported claims about exactly who holds funds at every stage, universal re-enrolment workflows or a vague hierarchy in which Skiply automatically carries “more regulatory weight” than every other education-payment product. Verify the school, payment flow and terms that apply to the transaction in front of you.
